Wentworth Miller dit adieu à Prison Break : il n'y aura pas de suite

L'acteur, gay dans la vie privée, explique qu'il ne veut plus jouer de personnage hétéro. Comme Michael Scofield...

Cela fait des mois que l'idée d'une saison 6 de Prison Break circule, notamment relancée par Dominic Purcell. Mais a priori, elle restera aux oubliettes ! Parce que Wentworth Miller ne veut plus jouer Michael Scofield, le héros hétérosexuel de la saga, alors que lui est ouvertement gay et défenseur des droits LGBTQ+.

Dans un post sans équivoque posté sur son compte Instagram durant le week-end, Miller écrit simplement ne plus vouler "jouer de personnages hétéros."

The U.S.? I won't be disappearing (too many cool things to repost). The ability to comment likely will. I'm not concerned for myself. I can't be "bullied" in this space. I have too much power. "Delete. Block. Deactivate." Etc. But I take seriously the possibility of queer kids visiting here, recently out of the closet or exploring the idea... I don't want them exposed to bullshit. On a related note... I'm out. Of PB. Officially. Not bec of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry. If you're hot and bothered bec you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one... That's your work. - W.M. 🏳️‍🌈

De fait, plus de Michael Scofield et donc plus de Prison Break. "Si vous êtes fan de la série et que vous pensiez encore avoir une nouvelle saison, je comprends votre déception. J'en suis désolé. Si vous êtes dégoûté parce que vous adorez un personnage hétéro incarné par un acteur gay, c'est votre problème !"

C'est donc la fin de Prison Break (a priori), qui comptera au bout du compte 5 saisons et 90 épisodes. En attendant de voir Dominic Purcell essayer de relancer la série autour du seul Lincoln, l'acteur affirme soutenir la décision de son camarade de jeu et comprendre "totalement (son) raisonnement. Heureux que tu aies pris cette décision pour ta santé mentale", écrit-il en commentaire.
